About Liberty Healthcare
Liberty Healthcare Corporation was founded in Philadelphia PA - within sight of the Liberty Bell, which inspired our company's name. And, yes, that is a stylized version of the Liberty Bell in our logo!
The Liberty Story
Our company has its beginnings back in the mid 1970s, growing out of a company that provided emergency room employees to hospitals. We learned early on that our greatest asset is indeed our people! Providing highly skilled, dedicated clinicians and health care professionals became the core of our business, when in 1986, Liberty Healthcare Corporation was founded as a provider of mental health, developmental disability and primary care services.
Today, we're headquartered in Bala Cynwyd (pronounced "kinwood"), PA, a suburb of Philadelphia. We've grown into a national organization with over 25 years of experience in providing health care professionals, clinical program management, case management and quality reviews for a range of publicly funded health service systems for persons with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD), mental illness and aging in both facility and community-based settings. We've also had decades of experience with assessment, Medicaid regulatory compliance and measurement of quality and performance, delivering positive outcomes, oftentimes under major external scrutiny.
As a matter of fact, Liberty Healthcare has been designated by the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) as a "QIO-like entity" since 2010. As a national organization that is dedicated to quality, this means that Liberty has met CMS' requirements under Section 1152 of the Social Security Act.
We've received Corporate-wide accreditation by Joint Commission for Health Care Staffing Services, which is the gold standard for the hiring, credentialing and provision of qualified health care professionals. HCSS Certification assures that professionals hired by Liberty have been carefully assessed for competency and passed primary source verification of educational and professional credentials in accordance with Joint Commission standards.
We've been nationally recognized for our ability to organize systems, assess healthcare organization problems and develop and implement systems and solutions to those problems. It's our specific experience in delivering quality assessment and review services for Home and Community Based Services (HCBS), such as state-wide quality reviews for the State of Indiana since 2008 and region-wide quality reviews for the District of Columbia since 2010, that brought us to the attention of North Carolina's State Medicaid agency, the Division of Medical Assistance.
Our background in clinical experience providing supports and services to the IDD, mental illness and elderly populations gives us both the clinical understanding as well as a skilled manager's understanding of the challenges of how to interact with people with intellectual disabilities, the elderly and people with mental health issues.
We are proud to have been chosen by North Carolina's State Medicaid agency, the Division of Medical Assistance, as their partner in administering the Independent Assessment program for Medicaid beneficiaries who may be eligible for Personal Care Services (PCS).
